Assessment of Landscape and Visual Effects

Location: Kelvin Grove, Palmerston North

Client: 2 Degrees Mobile

2 Degrees Mobile proposes to construct an extension to an existing Vodafone telecommunications tower located at 139 Keith Street, Palmerston North. This will allow a co-location of facilities, with the 2 Degrees facility requiring a 3m vertical extension to the top of the existing 25m tall Vodafone mast. To determine the visual impact of this extension Hudson Associates has been requested to prepare an assessment of the landscape and visual effects. The proposal is considered a Restricted Discretionary Activity under the Palmerston North City District Plan.

The landscape report of the proposal includes an assessment of existing landscape character and visual catchment, preparation of visual simulations of the proposed change, and the mitigation options.
