Landscape and Visual Assessment

The application from Palmerston North Airport is a Notice of Requirement for a Designation to provide additional land of approximately 12.3385 ha in area for Airport purposes at 146 Richardsons Line. The designated site would be subject to the noise rules of the Airport Zone and the requirement for an outline/structure/management plan before any works are commenced. Although the Notice of Requirement does not in itself signify industrial activity, the land use activities proposed will have the appearance of an industrial area. In this regard the proposed designation has some similarities to the industrial activities in this general location.

Hudson Associates was engaged by Palmerston North City Council to provide the landscape and visual effects, and assess the site in relation to the landscape and urban context, the planning framework of the proposed designation of land zoned Rural for Airport and Ancillary Purposes within Palmerston North City.
